Week Thirty Nine. Shedding Our Skin.

The wind blew cold and the water almost stopped our breathing, as we dived right in and tried to shed our winter skin.
Heading back to the coast, the colours still muted in the world around me. But a flicker of light came through, caught up in the laughter and presence of one of my best friends. Every afternoon for a week we drove down to that not quite deserted beach. The wind blew cold and the water almost stopped out breathing, as we dived right in and tried to shed our winter skin. And slowly, the colours began to return, not too full strength, but enough that I knew they were still there.
